Similar calculations is ok for industries… Things will get complected when you want to calculate the exact working hours including over time of employees.Timing deductions of employees who were on leave etc.
So better to take the exact working hours with the help of an electronic punching card or let the people dealing with the manpower (Basically HR/ER/IR) calculate the man hour worked and give to safety people for further SR calculations.
