Factors of Hay system<\/h4>\n<p><strong>2.1. Know \u2013 How <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The level of knowledge, skill and experience (gained through job experience, education and training), which are required to perform the job successfully. This is commensurate with the scale and complexity of the job outcomes (accountability).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Know-How include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tDepth &amp; Range of Know-How<br \/>\n\u2022\tPlanning &amp; Organizing<br \/>\n\u2022\tCommunicating &amp; Influencing (\u2018Human Relations Skills)<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.2. Problem Solving<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The complexity of thinking required, both in the type of  problems come across and the extent to which the jobholder has  precedent and\/or assistance in solving them (applying their Know \u2013 How).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Problem Solving include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\tThinking Environment<br \/>\n\u2022\tThinking Challenge<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.3. Accountability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The impact the job has on the organization (i.e. the end result) and the extent to which the jobholder acts autonomously in achieving this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accountability include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\tFreedom to Act:<\/strong> Which defines the authority in the job to take decisions without referral to others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\tMagnitude:<\/strong> Which indicates the area of the organisation or \u201cmagnitude\u201d upon which the job impacts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\tType of Impact:<\/strong> Which establishes the strength or degree of impact the job has in relation to the chosen magnitude.<\/p>\n<h4>3.
